Top 10 Prime Video Movies - Here are 3 worth watching now

If you're looking for something new to watch on Amazon Prime Video this weekend, this popular streaming service's list of the top 10 most-watched movies is a great way to cut through the noise quickly.

But just because a movie made the top 10 list, it's guaranteed to be a hit. Just look at the current No. 1 movie on Prime Video, “Angels Fallen: Warriors of Peace,” a sequel that no one asked for, about the angels raising an army of undead with an inner circle in heaven. So, to determine which of the top 10 films (as of November 22) are actually worth promoting, we've combed through the rankings to present the best of the best.

The best of the current Prime Video Top 10 includes a refreshing coming-of-age comedy, a horror film starring a vampire ballerina, and a Christmas movie full of charm. Here are my top picks.

Despite its awful name, “My Old Ass” is an absolute joy to watch. In this teen coming-of-age comedy-drama, 18-year-old Elliott (played by Maisie Stella in her feature film debut) comes face-to-face with her nearly 40-year-old self (Aubrey Plaza) after skipping family dinner to pick mushrooms with friends.

While the younger Elliot has it all figured out and is eager to spread her wings elsewhere, the older Elliot advises her not to be so eager to leave her hometown. More importantly, she advises the rebellious teenager to stay away from a boy named Chad (Percy Hines White), whom she happens to meet the next day. A transformative summer that challenges Elliott's preconceived notions about love, family, and the next chapter in her life.

I was pleasantly surprised by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillette's horror comedy “Ready Or Not. Abigail” shares the same DNA as 2022's ‘M3gan,’ and critics are raving about its bloody mayhem and dark humor. It currently holds an 83% critics score on Rotten Tomatoes, a rare accomplishment for a modern horror film.

A group of titular criminals, led by Giancarlo Esposito, kidnap the 12-year-old daughter (Alicia Weir) of a powerful underground figure in order to extort a $50 million ransom. Eventually they realize that the girl is not being held captive by them, but with her. While not the scariest horror film, “Abigail” is a tantalizing experience for those seeking a thriller that combines the macabre, the gory, and the chaotic.

It's celebration movie season, and Prime Video has added a new modern classic this month. Starring a stellar cast including Danny Glover, Gabrielle Union, and Mo'Nique, the film follows a dysfunctional family as they band together to celebrate their first Christmas after a devastating loss.

After losing the love of his life, beloved patriarch Walter (Glover) invites his children to Christmas, but he has only one wish: that they all get along while they're there. If they can spend five days under the same roof without strangling each other, it will be a Christmas miracle. While the twists are predictable and the film has many of the genre's usual flaws, “Almost Christmas” is a well-made holiday movie with enough charm and jokes to appeal to many.
