Streaming date for “Conclave”: when will it be available?

“Conclave” may be this year's Best Picture winner. It is certainly a strong contender to win several Academy Awards next year, and since its debut at the Telluride Film Festival in August, it has received almost universally positive reviews and has performed surprisingly well at the box office, having already recouped its $20 million budget.

As such, “Conclave” is officially a critical hit and a popular choice for moviegoers.

Here's what “Conclave” is all about and where you can stream it.

“Conclave” appeared on premium video-on-demand services like Amazon and Apple on November 26, 2024.

The film is also currently streaming on Peacock after arriving on December 13, 2024.

This is similar to the release pattern of another small Focus Features film, The Holdovers, which debuted in Telluride and had a wide release at the end of October. Like this year's Conclave.

“Conclave” stars Ralph Fiennes as Cardinal Thomas Lawrence. When the Pope dies suddenly of a heart attack, Cardinal Lawrence is tasked with leading a conclave to choose a new Pope.

Part of his duties will include digging up skeletons hidden in the closet of each papal candidate. This includes four cardinals who are considered leading candidates: liberal Bellini (Stanley Tucci), social conservative Adeyemi (Lucian Massamati), mainline conservative Tremblay (John Lithgow), and reactionary traditionalist Tedesco (Sergio Castellitto).

But it also includes Archbishop Vincent Benitez of Kabul (Carlos Diez), who, upon arriving at the papal conclave, surprises everyone by claiming that the late pope secretly made him a cardinal.

The film may not have the depth of a mystery thriller, but you won't care once you see Fiennes' excellent performance and the wonderful supporting performances by Tucci, Lithgow, Castellitto, and Isabella Rossellini. Stream “Conclave” here.
