“The Outer Banks” Season 4 has changed the game regarding us Pogues.
If you missed the previous four seasons of the action-packed teen soap, “The Outer Banks” follows a group of Kildare Island teens searching for buried treasure along the North Carolina coast: John B. Routledge (Stokes) and fellow Kiara Carrera ( Madison Bailey), Pope Hayward (Jonathan Davis), and JJ Maybank (Pankow) are self-described “Pogues” living on the working-class end of the island known as “The Cut”. John B. falls in love with Sarah Cameron (Madeline Klein), a “cook” from the more affluent Figure 8 district.
Past editions revolved around a group of teenagers getting involved in a far-reaching conspiracy to find a mountain of gold, and the latest season features the biggest bounty of them all: the long-lost treasure of the notorious pirate Blackbeard. (Warning: spoilers through Season 4.)
So far, it is not yet known when “Outer Banks” Season 5 will be available on Netflix. It is also unclear if the fifth season will follow the same split release model as season four (the fourth season was streamed in two installments on October 10 and November 7, respectively) or Netflix's hit series such as “Emily in Paris,” “Bridgerton,” “Stranger Things” and “You” It is not yet known if the company will follow the same split-release model as
Shortly before part two of the fourth season debuted in November 2024, series creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke officially announced “OBX” season five on the series' social media handle.
“We are a little sad, but also excited, to put season 4 behind us and head into season 5.
Sadly, the announcement also revealed that the fifth season will be the show's last. 'And we think it's going to be the best one yet. We hope you'll join us for another paddle into the surf break.” Here's everything we know so far about “Outer Banks” Season 5 before we take one last adventure with John B. (Chase Stokes), JJ (Rudy Pankow), and the rest of the gold-hunting Pogue crew.
The cast for “Outer Banks” Season 5 has not yet been announced, but it is likely that most of the main characters from the previous four films will return, including both Pogue and Cook. This should include Chase Stokes as Pogue leader John B. Routledge and Madeline Klein as his main love interest, Sarah Cameron.
Also expected to return are actors Madison Bailey as Chiara Carrera, Jonathan Davis as Pope Hayward, Carasia Grant as Cleo, Austin North as Topper, and Drew Starkey as Rafe.
However, there are key members of the Pogues who are unlikely to make their final appearances in the fifth season. In the season 4 finale, JJ Maybank (Rudy Pankow) was stabbed to death by his own father, Chandler Groff (J. Anthony Crain), while the gang was in Morocco.
According to Tudam, Outer Banks creators Josh Pate, Jonas Pate, and Shannon Burke always planned for Pankow's character to eventually die in the series.
“It was a really hard decision because he's such a great part of the ensemble,” said Josh Pate. 'It sets the stage for an epic fifth and final season. We plan a season that embodies the story of redemption and the friendship that JJ came to symbolize...JJ's death was painful, but necessary to the story. We love the character of JJ as much as the fans do, and we will honor that as much as we can. And Rudy is our best friend.”
No details have been released yet on specific plotlines for “Outer Banks” Season 5. However, the show's creators have assured Tudum that it will be an “epic fifth and final season,” and at the time of the interview, they were in the process of working on the script for season 5. Also, according to Shannon Burke, the “Blue Crown” treasure hunt, the main focus of Season 4, “should carry through to the end.”
Co-creator Josh Pate has also previously informed Tudum that The Pogues will get there, so we can't wait to see what that final scene will look like. Stay tuned to Tom's Guide for everything from “Outer Banks” Season 5 storylines to new photos and videos. Stay tuned...
