Neon's latest drama, “Anora,” has audiences enthralled with its provocative storytelling and powerful performances. Directed by Sean Baker, the film won the Palme d'Or at this year's Cannes Film Festival.
“Anora,” starring Mikey Madison, follows Ani, an exotic New York dancer, as she rapidly approaches Vanya (Marc Eidelstein), the son of a Russian oligarch; the two make the impulsive decision to elope in Las Vegas, where they are both in love with the same man and are both attracted to him. Determined to cut Ani and Vanya's honeymoon short, their parents send their “best” (read fixer-uppers) to break up their marriage.
Can't make it to the cinema to see this early Oscar frontrunner? You may not have much time to watch “Anora” at home. Currently still playing in theaters, it will eventually make the transition to streaming, and while Neon has yet to confirm a streaming or digital release for “Anora,” given the film's success, it will probably be released in the near future. What we know about the streaming debut is as follows.
Currently, the only way to see “Anora” is to go to a movie theater.
Once it is no longer in theaters, “Anora” will be available at various premium video-on-demand (PVOD) outlets, such as Amazon's Prime Video. This means that the movie can be rented or purchased and watched prior to its release on official subscription streaming platforms.
In the past, we have seen new neon releases head to VOD services like Apple TV and YouTube 30 to 40 days after their theatrical release. It is unclear if “Anora” will be released on the same schedule, but it is likely to follow the same protocol.
Neither distributor Neon nor production company FilmNation has confirmed an official streaming release date for “Anora.” However, it will be available on Hulu. Contractually, all Neon titles will be available exclusively on Hulu.
If “Anora” is to be distributed on the same schedule as other new Neon titles, it will be available on Hulu in early 2025.
This is our best guess as to the streaming date for “Anora” at this time. However, we will be back to update this article with more information so that you can mark it on your calendar.
