'Tis the season for new movies and shows on the best streaming services, and Apple TV Plus delivers fresh, original productions to keep us entertained.

This month's schedule is lighter than usual, but there are some worthy premieres. Fly Me to the Moon, a rom-com starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, tells a compelling, if somewhat outlandish, story centered on its two charming leads. And “The Secret Life of Animals,” a new world-traveling nature documentary from the award-winning Natural History Unit at BBC Studios. And if the kids are coming to visit this holiday weekend, the new animated adventure “Wonder Pets in the City” on Apple TV Plus is a must-see.

“Wonderpets” was a bit early for my time, but I must admit that my sister was obsessed with the show and the songs were amazingly catchy (though not so much on the 1000th play). Then this month, the show started airing again on Apple TV Plus. This time, the trio of new heroes, Izzy the guinea pig, Tate the snake, and Zuri the rabbit, must work together to rescue animals in music- and mini-opera-themed adventures around the world.

A new 10-part documentary from the acclaimed BBC Studios' natural history department debuts this month on Apple TV Plus. Filmed over three years in 24 countries across 77 species, “The Secret Life of Animals” reveals some of the ingenious and creative strategies animals use to tackle life's extraordinary challenges. With narration by Hugh Bonneville (Paddington and Downton Abbey), each episode dives into a key moment in the life cycle of various animals, from birth to leaving home, securing food and finding a partner.
