Samsung Galaxy S25 event to unveil new AR smart glasses for the first time?

According to recent reports from Korea, Samsung intends to unveil a new wearable product at the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked.

The main focus will be on the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Ring 2, and One UI 7, but it appears that there may be a surprise announcement in the form of new AR glasses.

This news comes from a report from a Korean news outlet, first spotted by X user @Jukanlosreve. It should be noted, however, that this is not yet a full release. Instead, Samsung intends to release an image or video of a prototype of the augmented reality (AR) glasses during the show. Hopefully, we will also get more information about a potential launch date.

Samsung will also reportedly announce its Extended Reality (XR) platform, which is software that will be installed on the glasses, later this month. The report raises several interesting points about the design of the glasses. First, they resemble regular sunglasses and weigh about 50 grams. It would be like adding Ray-Ban's Meta Glasses and Apple Vision Pro and dividing by two.

Samsung has reportedly been working with Qualcomm on this product since February. The glasses are expected to feature payment capabilities, perhaps like Google Wallet, as well as AI-powered gesture and facial recognition capabilities. And they are expected to connect seamlessly with Samsung's best models.

The release of the AR glasses is an interesting move and will help build Samsung's ecosystem along with Galaxy Ring and cell phones. As of now, Galaxy Unpacked will be held on January 23, so we will have to wait until then to see how accurate this report is.
