According to overlapping rumors, a possible design change could make the iPhone 17 Air look like the Google Pixel 9.

When it comes to design changes, Apple does not always make as dramatic changes as other smartphone makers; the iPhone 16's new camera control buttons may have changed the way the phone is used, but they were not very visual.

For the most part, the actual appearance of the iPhone has not changed much in recent years. However, two different leakers have stated that the iPhone 17 Air may still feature a distinctly different camera layout than any other iPhone.

According to a recent report from Apple Insider, there are two separate leaks regarding the iPhone 17 Air's camera block, the first from well-known leaker Digital Chat Station, judging from supply chain documents, posted on Weibo that Apple has changed the design to a more horizontal layout. And they said many Android phones will soon follow this design choice.

The leak seems to be corroborated by a recent post to X by Jukanlosreve, a relatively new leaker. In that post, he reveals what is claimed to be the frame of the new iPhone 17 Air, which allegedly came from a Chinese supply chain report. The frame in question features a horizontal camera rubber, but the low resolution makes it difficult to confirm whether it is an actual piece of hardware or (more likely at this stage) a rendering.

Digital Chat Station is a known source and has a track record of predictions, while Jukanlosreve is still a relatively new source. It should also be noted that this is not the first time leaked information on the iPhone 17 Air design, most of which have limited the number of cameras.

For example, we have heard quite a bit of news that the iPhone 17 Air will have only one camera to save space. Other design leaks also seem to imply that there will be one centralized camera on the back.

Overall, this may be possible, but it would be a pretty big shakeup compared to Apple's usual designs. For now, we'll have to wait until the official announcement of the iPhone 17 Air to see how Apple has designed one of its thinnest phones to date.
