December brings new additions to Prime Video. As always, the streaming service continues to offer an impressive array of films, and this month is no exception.
We were surprised to discover that several of the recently added films are at least 90% on Rotten Tomatoes. These include such classics as the crime thriller “Witness” starring Harrison Ford and the critically acclaimed action film starring Emily Blunt, Josh Brolin, and Benicio del Toro.

“Knives Out” is a modern take on the classic whodunit mystery genre. Millionaire mystery writer Harlan Thromby (Christopher Plummer) is found dead in his mansion after celebrating his 85th birthday. The police initially suspect suicide, but renowned private detective Benoit Blanc (Daniel Craig) is hired anonymously to investigate further.
As Blanc probes the circumstances surrounding Harlan's death, he uncovers secrets, lies, and motives of the eccentric members of Harlan's dysfunctional family. From financial problems to personal grievances, each family member has a potential reason for wanting Harlan dead. The plot weaves together various twists, red carrots, and shifting perspectives, keeping the audience's imagination engaged until the very end.

“Once Upon a Time in the West” is a classic Western set in the late 19th century American frontier, featuring three main characters: Jill McBain ( Claudia Cardinale), a widow who comes to the frontier West in search of her murdered husband's land; Harmonica (Charles Bronson), a mysterious man seeking revenge against the man responsible for his husband's death; and Frank (Henry Fonda), a ruthless hit man working for a railroad company.
The plot unfolds as Jill and Harmonica confront Frank, revealing his connection to the past and his motives for justice. As the story progresses, themes of revenge and the changing western landscape emerge, culminating in a dramatic and climactic confrontation.

“The Witches” is a dark fantasy comedy in which Luke (Jason Fisher), a boy whose parents have died, is sent to live with his grandmother, who warns him about witches. These witches are evil creatures who secretly despise children and plot to eliminate them.
Led by the fearsome Great Witch (Angelica Houston), the witches have an evil plan to turn all the children in the world into rats. When Luke and his grandmother accidentally discover their plan, they must fight to stop the witches before it is too late. The witches can disguise themselves as ordinary women, but they are bald, have grappling claws instead of fingernails, have great disdain for children, and want to get rid of them.

In the mood for a documentary. An Inconvenient Truth is one to watch. It focuses on the global climate crisis and the need for urgent action to address climate change. The film primarily features former U.S. Vice President Al Gore, who makes a compelling case for the scientific basis of global warming and its devastating effects on the planet.
The documentary follows Gore's campaign to raise awareness about the dangers of climate change and shows his extensive slide presentations highlighting the causes, consequences, and solutions to environmental problems. Compelling images and data illustrate how human activities (such as burning fossil fuels) are contributing significantly to global atmospheric warming, leading to rising sea levels, extreme weather events, and loss of biodiversity.

“Witness” is about an Amish boy, Samuel (Lucas Haas), who inadvertently witnesses a murder while traveling on a train in Philadelphia with his mother Rachel (Kelly McGillis). The murderer is a corrupt police officer named Officer McPhee (Danny Glover), who is involved in drug and crime syndicates.
After witnessing the murder, Samuel and his mother hide out in an Amish community in rural Pennsylvania for safety. Detective John Book (Harrison Ford), who was investigating the case, takes them into custody. Book, however, is wounded in a shootout with the shooter and is forced to remain in the Amish community to recover. As he becomes immersed in the Amish lifestyle, he forms a bond with Rachel, which develops into a complex relationship in which both his values and Amish customs are challenged.

“Sicario” is an acclaimed action film about the complex world of the U.S. government's drug war along the Mexican border FBI agent Kate Macer (Emily Blunt) is a young woman who is forced to confront the reality of her own life and the Amish lifestyle, recruited into a secret government task force led by the mysterious and calculating Matt Graver (Josh Brolin) and his partner Alejandro (Benicio del Toro). Their mission is to help destroy a powerful drug cartel that has caused countless deaths.
Driven by a sense of justice, Kate soon finds herself caught up in a morally ambiguous operation that takes her deeper into the violent and lawless world of the drug cartel. As the team operates outside the confines of the law, Kate struggles with the ethical implications of their methods, including kidnapping, torture, and extrajudicial killings. Alejandro's personal vendetta against the cartels is central to the story, adding a darker and more unpredictable tone.

Under Fire is a political drama set during the Nicaraguan revolution of the late 1970s. It follows three American journalists reporting from the war zone: war photographer Russell Price (Nick Nolte), radio reporter Claire (Joanna Cassidy), and TV reporter Alex Grainger (Gene Hackman). Amidst the chaos, Russell and Claire develop a romantic relationship, which becomes complicated as they document the revolutionary Sandinista efforts to overthrow the Somoza dictatorship.
The film explores the ethical challenges of journalism in conflict, focusing on the moral quandary Russell faces when he photographs the dead bodies of rebel leaders. This act raises questions about the role of the media in influencing public opinion and shaping political outcomes.

“Green Room” is a tense horror thriller about a punk rock band.
After a performance, the band accidentally witnesses a violent crime in a back room of the club. Scrambling to escape, the band members are forced into a violent confrontation with a skinhead gang led by Patrick Stewart, who plays the club's owner.
