Throughout 2024, Hulu has brought us a lot of really great TV shows. Looking back on the year, it feels like the streaming service has really released something for everyone, from quirky British comedies and politically charged dramas to FX favorites and true prestige TV.
If you're trying to catch up on all the great TV shows that have come our way throughout the past 12 months, Hulu's output is a good place to start: here are eight Hulu Originals from 2024 that you shouldn't miss.
I can't resist recommending “Extraordinary.” Set in a world where basically everyone has developed some kind of superpower, except for the lead character Jen (Máiréad Tyers), the film follows Jen and her close friends and family as they tackle all of life's challenges with this special twist. watch on Hulu
“Interior China. I don't think there's much to say about “Town” yet. The main character, Willis Wu (Jimmy O. Yang), played a minor role in a police drama until he was recruited by a detective to help with a new investigation in Chinatown. It's a fun genre-bending film that makes the most of the meta-layering of the original story. watch on Hulu
“Only Murders” is a Hulu mainstay for a reason. Once again, it spun a compelling case, brought fresh emotion to the show, and was equally enjoyable. Numerous guest appearances enliven the show, but never interfere with the chemistry of the trio of podcasting winners.Watch on Hulu
“Vulgar. Vulgar. Wickedly delicious.” Dame Jilly Cooper's novel of the same name is adapted into a wonderfully entertaining tale of rivalry and star-studded British stars in this bold, adults-only, eight-episode romp from the 1980s. Whether it's the dashing TV mogul Sir Tony Badgerham (David Tennant) or retired Olympic show jumper Rupert Campbell Black (Alex Hassell), you're in for a very, very good time. Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo's new adaptation of James Clavell's novel is a historical drama set in the 17th century. Justin Marks and Rachel Kondo's new adaptation of James Clavell's novel is an epic, immersive work of 17th century historical drama and an all-nervous story.Watch on Hulu
“Say Nothing” by Patrick Radden Keefe A dramatization of the non-fiction book of the same name, the politically charged thriller limited series, through nine episodes and multiple timelines, “Say Nothing” uses a talented ensemble to bring this era to life. Highly acclaimed yet controversial, Say Nothing is at times tragic, thrilling, cruel, and morally complex. View on Hulu
Megan Oppenheimer's “Tell Me Lies” is an addictive and poisonous film that cannot be overlooked or dismissed as a frivolous guilty pleasure. Season 2 of “Tell Me Lies” continues to be well-received by viewers looking for this uniquely messy relationship drama, bringing more twists and terrible decisions, more steamy scenes, more manipulation, and more melodrama to the forefront. watch on Hulu
The first two films While it may not have been as universally loved as the first two, in my eyes, “The Bear” Season 3 was a brilliant third installment of the comedy-drama and well worth savoring. Despite the extensive use of flashbacks, the show is impressively cohesive and, as always, incredibly stressful and full of emotion. This latest course may have been a bit more polarizing than previous ones, but there were still some really good episodes in Season 3, as there have been in the past. I'll be back to watch it again.
