Pika Labs is making the AI video models of its flagship product, Pika 2.0, available for free for the next few days to give people a chance to test one of the best AI video generators.
The “4-day free availability” is a great opportunity to try out the model, which I personally think is superior to OpenAI's recently released Sora. Its powerful feature is that you can give it an image or multiple images and use them to steer video creation.
This has overloaded the server and slowed down the video generation time considerably, but Pika has confirmed that they are adding new GPUs to meet the demand. In the meantime:” Jobs are prioritized based on subscription tier, with higher tier paid plans taking precedence over lower tier plans.”
The quickest way to test Pika 2.0 is to use the templates the team has created. Templates allow you to put yourself or someone else in different situations.
Pika 2.0 will be available for free to all users until December 22, and professional subscribers will have their credits frozen and priority generation.
AI Video Labs is also removing all watermarks for pro subscribers, allowing them to share the clips they generate without branding them as Pika.
I spend a lot of time generating videos with various AI products, and so far Pika Labs Ingredients is my favorite feature; it solves one of the biggest problems in AI content: character consistency.
The model does a masterful job of creating camera movement during a 5 second clip as well as including multiple image elements in the video.
Currently free, it is worth taking a few minutes to create a handful of prompts and test them out. Also, the fact that it is free is a sign of confidence in how good it is.
