Just recently, we saw quite a few leaks indicating what could be a major redesign of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. According to this leak, there will be a horizontal camera rubber on the back, similar to the Google Pixel, which will be very different from the current iPhone 16 Pro Max design.
A Russian YouTube channel called Wylsacom grabbed these rumors and created a rendering of what the iPhone 17 Pro Max would look like with the rumored design. If this is the final look and feel of the device, I'm on board, as I was a fan of the Google Pixel's horizontal camera rubber.
It makes sense for Apple to shift the design language a bit since the last major change in camera design was the iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max in 2019. Even if the current design works well enough, Cupertino would not want to stagnate with the same look and feel for too long.
Since the Camelaber rumors are relatively reliable, it seems possible that these renderings could be based on reality. Of course, until Apple confirms the design in an official iPhone 17 launch (likely in September 2025), these images must be treated as speculation.
Besides this design change, rumors have surfaced regarding the material of the iPhone 17 Pro Max. Some leaked reports say that it will change to aluminum, while others say that it will remain titanium. There is also talk that it will have a 6.9” OLED display with a refresh rate of 1-120 Hz.
Another key rumor for the iPhone 17 Pro Max suggests that it (and the iPhone 17 Pro) will jump from 8GB to 12GB of RAM. Apple is also rumored to be working on a new iPhone 17 Air, which would be the thinnest iPhone ever.
Again, these are all rumors and speculation, and nothing is official until Apple announces a new model. For the latest news, see our iPhone 17 hub.
