An official announcement has finally been made that the OnePlus 13 will be launched early next year and that it will be accompanied by some interesting upgrades.
OnePlus has decided to hold a Winter Launch event for the OnePlus 13 series on January 7, the company's 11th birthday. Hopefully, we will see another high-performance flagship phone from the company, while maintaining an aggressive price point to separate users from rivals such as Samsung and Google.
OnePlus later mentioned that the OnePlus 13 is “the first phone to be revealed from the OnePlus 13 series,” which likely means that a sequel to the OnePlus 12R will be announced. This entry-level model, while lacking the camera, performance, and display specs of the OnePlus 12, offers excellent value for money and the best battery life test results we have measured to date.
The OnePlus 13's specs are less secretive, as it is already available in China. However, we do not want to make too many comparisons, as there may still be differences in specs that will only become apparent when we see the global version of the phone.
OnePlus has confirmed that the 13 will feature a 2K-resolution display with a refresh rate of 1-120Hz and an impressive peak brightness of 4,500 nits. IP69 rating.
The Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset running things is the current top player for chips in Android phones. On the software side, the 13 is powered by OnePlus' latest OxygenOS 15, which is based on Android 15. It offers a variety of improvements, including new AI features like intelligent search to get answers from files stored on the phone and more diverse photo editing tools.
Finally, and perhaps most importantly, the 13 will be available in three colors: black Eclipse, Arctic Dawn, and vegan leather-clad Midnight Ocean; the Arctic Dawn version is also special and “the industry's first surface-based glass coating and is designed to be smooth yet fingerprint resistant.
At the same time, OnePlus also announced a small upgrade to the OnePlus Buds Pro 3. It will soon be available in Sapphire Blue and will allow users to try out the new AI translation feature that works with the OnePlus 13.
Mark your calendars - the OnePlus 13 is only three weeks away. A major competitor like Samsung's Galaxy S25 series will likely not be available at that time, but the OnePlus 13 may still make its mark in our guide to the best Android smartphones for the rest of 2025.
