Streaming services abound with options, but it's hard to find one that fits your mood (and no one wants to scroll for hours). Over the years we've seen plenty of mediocre titles that make the service's top 10 list.
Fortunately, Apple TV Plus' current top 10 lineup includes some outstanding films that are well worth your time.
Among them are a gripping drama set in London during World War II, a charming romantic comedy starring Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum, and a Christmas musical to get you in the holiday mood. If you're looking for your next great movie, here are three movies you should be streaming on your Apple TV Plus right now.
This article is based on the Apple TV Plus Top 10 Movies as of Monday, December 16.
If you're drawn to World War II stories, “Blitz” is definitely worth watching on streamers. Focusing on the impact on civilians rather than the battlefield, the film uniquely portrays the wartime experience. The character development may not stand out as the central strength of the film, but the engaging pacing and emotional storytelling will keep you hooked to the end. It is a compelling film for those who want to learn more about the challenges faced on the home front during the war.
“The Blitz” follows George (Elliot Heffernan), a nine-year-old boy in London who is sent to the countryside for safety by his mother Rita (Saoirse Ronan) during the Blitz. George decides to return to his mother and grandfather in East London and embarks on a journey filled with danger. Meanwhile, Rita desperately searches for her missing son.

Scarlett Johansson and Channing Tatum's romantic comedy “Fly Me to the Moon” may have struggled to get noticed when it hit theaters in July. Since its arrival on Apple TV Plus, however, the film has enjoyed an impressive resurgence in popularity. It managed to hold the number one spot on the platform for quite some time before being overtaken by the season's favorite, A Charlie Brown Christmas. My colleague Martin Shore recently wrote of it: while it may be uneven in the plot department, “Fly Me to the Moon” is a playful, endearing, old-fashioned romance.
“Fly Me to the Moon” follows Kelly Jones (Johansson), a marketing expert hired to revive public interest in the space race. The government, represented by the astute Moe Berkus (Woody Harrelson), orders Kelly to work with Cole Davis (Channing Tatum), NASA's launch director, to increase the popularity of Apollo 11. Kelly and Cole are faced with a series of professional and personal tensions.

Sometimes it takes a hilarious and entertaining Christmas movie to get people in the holiday spirit. While not aiming to be a Christmas movie masterpiece, this fun adult film is full of laughs thanks to top Hollywood comedy icons Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell. Clever jokes and a playful twist on the classic “A Christmas Carol” make this feel-good romp perfect for anyone who enjoys light holiday humor.
In “Spirited Away,” the ghost of Christmas Present (Ferrell) chooses a soul each year and shows it the past, present, and future to convert it. This year, however, he chooses a cynical and selfish businessman, Clint Briggs (Reynolds), who challenges the ghost to reconsider his past and his approach to the afterlife in the present.
