Samsung Galaxy S25 Benchmarks Leaked - Snapdragon 8 Elite Performance is a Concern

A recent post on X reveals benchmark scores for the Galaxy S25.

The post shows a screenshot of the scores for a device with the model number SM-S931N, which appears to be the Korean version of the S25; according to NoteBookCheck, this model is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, with a clock speed is 4.47 GHz and 12 GB of RAM. For reference, the Galaxy version is slightly faster than the 4.32GHz chip in the OnePlus 13 and Xiaomi 15.

We've heard quite a bit about the power of the Snapdragon 8 Elite, but these results suggest that the Galaxy S25 will leave a lot to be desired; according to Geekbench scores, the Galaxy S24 has a single-core score of 2,481 and a multi-core score is 8,658. Compared to the base iPhone 16's single-core score of 3,301 and multi-core score of 6,922, this does not bode well for Samsung.

Recently we benchmarked the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip on a reference device. In this test, the single-core score was 3,212 and the multi-core score was 10,318. However, the test device we obtained had 24 GB of RAM. This indicates that while the S25's 12GB of RAM is an upgrade over the Galaxy S24's 8GB, it may limit what you can get out of the chip. [But the real issue will be the power of the Galaxy S25 Ultra, which is rumored to have 16GB of RAM; with more RAM, one would expect the Snapdragon 8 Elite chip to perform better. Otherwise, many will wonder why Samsung is rumored to increase the price while using the same M13 display panel as the S24 series.

For now, we'll have to wait until we get a chance to test the phone ourselves to see how well the S25 is throttled. If the scores are accurate, the Galaxy S25 could be on our list of the best phones of 2025.
