Amazon introduces the new Omni mini LED TV.

There's quite a bit of competition in the world of cheap TVs, and it looks like it's about to get even more heated now that Amazon has announced its new Omni-Mini-LED TVs with incredible specs.

As Amazon announced in a blog post today, the new Fire TV Omni-LED series features a smooth 144 Hz refresh rate in a variety of sizes, starting at 55 inches and going up to 85 inches for the big-screen TV crowd. Prices start at $819, comparable to the Roku Pro Series TV (3.5/5 stars) and Hisense U7N (3.5/5 stars).

With Dolby Atmos support and a built-in subwoofer, the new mini-LED entry from Amazon is gaining serious legs in a market dominated by lackluster audio systems. The Fire TV Soundbar Plus is a 3.1 channel all-in-one design starting at $249, aiming to challenge the best inexpensive soundbars.

The new Fire TV Omni-LED series and Fire TV Soundbar Plus officially launch today and are available on Amazon.

This is Amazon's first mini-LED TV. It mimics Roku, which introduced its first Mini-LED design this year with the Roku Pro series. The mini-LED TV market is very vast, with products from Sony, Hisense, TCL, Samsung, Panasonic, and others, but Amazon's Fire TV Omni Mini-LED series is a serious new contender in this field.

It takes advantage of a 144Hz refresh rate, coupled with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro support, which is staggering on its own, considering the price, which starts at $819. Although not specified in the blog, the Omni-Mini-LED TV is natively 120Hz, but may use VRR to achieve a 144Hz refresh rate.

Amazon claims amazing test results for this new TV, highlighting a peak brightness of 1,400 nits, but we won't know how good it really is until we take it to the lab. If accurate, that would be well above the Roku Pro series' 922 nits and slightly below the Panasonic W95A's 1,617 nits (review pending) Amazon also states that the new Omni-Mini-LED TV offers up to 1,344 dimming zones .

Amazon also highlighted Ambient Experience, a feature that turns Amazon Fire TV into a Samsung The Frame-like experience; while TCL and Hisense are launching similar TVs like The Frame, Roku and Fire TV rely on software.

The Fire TV Omni-Mini-LED will also be the first Amazon Fire TV to support Dolby Atmos, allowing audiophile friends to enjoy it when they come to visit. Even with a built-in subwoofer, the TV's audio isn't always the best, so you may want to look for the best Dolby Atmos soundbar.

But Amazon also has you covered with its new soundbar.

Amazon not only offers a new mini LED TV, but has also brought to market a new soundbar with a built-in 3.1 channel system: the new $249 Fire TV Soundbar Plus is an all-in-one system, Dolby Atmos support, and a new soundbar with a built-in 3.1 channel system, precise tuning, and Dialogue Enhancer functionality, so you'll never miss a word from your favorite characters.

Amazon also offers an additional Hi-Fi product, a wireless subwoofer and two surround sound speakers, so it's not just a soundbar. The Wireless Subwoofer bundle is $374, and the Surround Sound Speakers and Wireless Subwoofer bundle is $489, making the Soundbar Plus available in bundles that include these products.

The new Fire TV Omni Mini-LED TV is available today at the same time as the Fire TV Soundbar Plus. Both are available on Amazon starting at $819 and $249 respectively.
