Apple has released the latest version of its popular video editing software, Final Cut Pro. The company unveiled Final Cut Pro 11 in a blog post, and it appears to offer many exciting new features for creators who rely on the best video editing software AI and spatial video are the main focus of the update, but there are many other exciting goodies.

It's a long-awaited update. After all, it's been 10 years since Apple released Final Cut Pro X. Of course, that's not to say there haven't been updates to Final Cut Pro.

Most of the features are available on the Mac. However, several new features have been added to the iPhone and iPad as well.

Final Cut Pro 11 has two major AI features: magnetic masking and transcription to captioning. magnetic masking, similar to iOS 18's cleanup tool, helps isolate people and objects in video without green screen or rotoscope It helps to isolate them. If it works well, it could be a game changer for creating special effects on a low budget.

Transcription to captions is less impressive, since apps like TikTok already do it well. If you thought Apple had given up on the Vision Pro headset with spatial video editing capabilities in Final Cut Pro 11, you're not so sure.

The new version allows users to import footage and add effects, correct color tones, and enhance the video just as they would with traditional video formats. Editors can fine-tune the depth position of titles, and captured footage can also be adjusted during the editing process.

Multiple viewing modes allow users to preview the left-eye and right-eye angles of the Mac display to see how a person wearing a Vision Pro headset would view it.

Once editing is complete, the video can be exported directly to the user's photo library, viewed immediately in Vision Pro, or uploaded to the visionOS Vimeo app to share with other users.

Since video editing is time consuming, in-app workflow boosters such as Final Cut Pro are welcome.

Apple released Final Cut Pro for iPad 2.1, adding many workflow optimizations and new features. For example, the “Enhance Light and Color” option improves the color, color balance, contrast, and brightness of videos and still images in one step.

The company also rolled out a new vertical pinch gesture that allows users to expand or minimize the height of clips on the timeline and other new options that make editing video on one of the best tablets even better.

Final Cut Camera for iPhone and iPad also has several new features. For example, Apple has added the ability to capture Log-encoded HEVC video in a standalone or Live Multicam session, the option to enable LUT preview while recording in Log, and the option for iPhone 16 Pro users to record 4K option to record video at 120 fps, which can then be imported into Final Cut Pro for iPad for editing.

Final Cut Pro 11 is currently available as a free update for existing users. If you do not already have it, you can purchase it from the Mac App Store for $299.99.
