Nvidia is launching a new app for gamers worldwide. The aptly named “Nvidia” app is offered to PC users as a replacement for the Nvidia GeForce Experience, which has never been a gamer's best friend. Like its predecessor, the app will offer more features designed to enhance the PC gaming experience on the best gaming PCs and the best gaming laptops. Whether or not it will succeed in that goal remains to be seen.
The app, which was released in beta in 2024, is bundled with video card drivers and integrates several features from the company's simple Nvidia Control Panel. It can record gameplay, apply Nvidia's AI-powered RTX game filters, and display statistics in an overlay. [The most important benefit of GeForce Experience was the ability to optimize game settings based on PC specs. It also adds settings that were not in GeForce Experience, but only in the Nvidia Control Panel app. Previously, display settings, enabling and disabling G-Sync, and GPU performance tuning were locked in the Control Panel, but these settings are now adjustable in the new app.
Nvidia has released the app to the masses, but is not done adding features. In a blog post, the company discussed the future of the app. “Future updates will add the remaining options of the NVIDIA Control Panel, such as surround sound and multi-display mode settings, along with new features and further enhancements.”
The app is bundled with Nvidia drivers, but you can prevent it from entering your PC by unchecking the box during installation. However, if you don't like GeForce Experience, it may be worth trying the Nvidia app.
Perhaps most exciting is that you don't have to use your Nvidia account to take advantage of everything the app does.
