The creators of NordVPN, one of the most powerful VPNs, have launched NordProtect, a new identity theft protection service. The tool is currently available to NordVPN prime users in the U.S. NordProtect will be launched in more markets and as a standalone product in the first half of 2025.

Identity theft is a global problem and is increasing in frequency VPNs are a great way to protect your privacy online, but they are not a silver bullet and one careless click can put all your personal information in the hands of cybercriminals. NordProtect is aims to combat this problem by recovering and restoring lost identity assets. With its user-friendly security features, NordProtect is an all-purpose service that protects consumers' identities.

First, NordProtect provides identity recovery and restoration; victims of identity theft are reimbursed up to $1 million for identity recovery costs, including legal fees and lost wages. Users will also be connected to an identity recovery case manager to assist them in recovering from identity theft. This is nothing new; NordVPN has included cyber insurance before, but now it appears to be moving under the NordProtect banner.

NordProtect also offers cyber extortion protection. It offers $100,000 for professional assistance and payments for cyber threats that delete or disclose a victim's information or restrict access to data or smart devices. This has also been available for several months.

Finally, 24/7 dark web monitoring is included in the service. It monitors the dark web and alerts users if their credentials, phone numbers, social security numbers, or other identity assets are compromised. Users can also check their credit with secure credit monitoring. Users receive an individual credit score each month and are notified of any suspicious credit activity.

NordProtect is the latest addition to the Nord Security brand family, which includes NordVPN, the password manager NordPass, encrypted cloud storage NordLocker, and one of the best business VPNs, including NordLayer, one of the best business VPNs available.
