Samsung's One UI 7, an Android 15-based operating system, was scheduled to launch this week on November 17, but that date has passed with no sign of a beta version. According to new leaks, the much-delayed Android version may not appear until December.
The latest postponement comes to us from X-user FamilyTaes (via Android Central), who claims that Samsung is pushing back the beta version to at least the first week of December for the S24 phone. Additionally, this would postpone access to the beta for the Galaxy S23 lineup by two to three weeks, and the S22 series may not see a beta at all.
The company also claims that the beta program will run for two months, with the final version to be released next February.
Concerned reporters question whether the Galaxy S25 series, which is expected to be released in January, will even be launched with the latest version of One UI; FamilyTaes believes that this delay will not hinder the development of the S25, which will launch with version 7.1 and claims that 8.0 will be released shortly once Android 16 is released early next year. Android 16 is supposed to be finalized in April 2025.
Allegedly, this information comes from Ice Universe, a rather large leaker for Samsung, who posted on Weibo that Samsung found a bug in the code that needs to be addressed. We only have a screenshot and some machine translations showing the problem with the code, and even claim a release date of December 12.
At this point, will Samsung even release a beta version of this magical UI overhaul? The company officially announced One UI 7 at the Samsung Developer Conference in early October. At that time, it was stated that the full version would launch with the S25 series.
However, the beta version has been delayed for several months with no sign of an actual launch, leading one to wonder if it will debut on a flagship device next year.
Speaking of Ice Universe, this week they posted on X many new features that are supposed to be unveiled during the mythical beta.
These include new animations spanning unlocking, apps, settings, transitions, moving apps, and more. They stated that more animations would be released from there.
This overhaul of the One UI interface features animations that make it more fluid, faster, easier to use, and more fun.
Last year, the One UI 6 update landed in November with a huge 6.1.1 upgrade hitting in September that brought a number of Galaxy AI features to older Samsung devices.
As Samsung apparently struggles to squeeze the next iteration of One UI, we wonder what will be on the Galaxy S25 when it is unboxed.
At the very least, it will be a more powerful device with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and a One UI 6 skin. At worst, it will be a buggy mess called One UI 7 in addition to that.
