The 2024-25 cyclocross season is two months away as the muddy peloton heads to the season's most prestigious competition, the 12-round World Cup, and if you have a VPN, you can watch World Cup cyclocross for free from anywhere.
The cyclocross World Cup consists of 12 rounds, starting on Sunday, November 24 in Antwerp, Belgium and ending two months later on Sunday, January 26 in Hoogerheide, the Netherlands. This season's event will be held in Europe, spanning six countries (Belgium, Ireland, Italy, France, Spain, and the Netherlands), so for the first time since 2015, the event will not be held in the United States.
The overall winner of the series is the rider with the most points throughout the 12 races, with the winner of each round receiving 40 points and the 25th place rider receiving 1 point.
The so-called “big three” who have been in the spotlight for the past few seasons are Tom Pidcock, Wout Van Aert, and Mathieu Van Der Pol. They rarely compete in every race or battle for the overall, but when they do, their strength is well-documented.
Both Van Aert and Van der Pol have announced schedules for seven events, starting with the World Cup on December 22, and Van der Pol will compete in 11 events, also starting on December 22. Pidcock will forgo cross this season and will likely focus 100% on the road next year.
New talent continues to emerge in the cross world, led by Tibau Nace, who is active on the road. Another up-and-coming superstar is Niels Vandeputte, who is on the same Alpecin Deceuninck team as Van der Pol and has already scored some big wins this year.
In addition, along with veterans such as the in-form Laurens Sweek, last year's overall champion Eli Iserbitt, Lars van der Haar, Michal Vanhollenhout, Joris Nieuwenhuis, and Filipe Aerts, this season's World Cup is shaping up to be a blockbuster.
