“Sonic the Hedgehog 3” has been released and it looks to be the biggest wild ride yet. This time, Sonic and his gang will face off against Shadow the Hedgehog. If you've played the game, you know this is a big deal. The appearance of Shadow usually means things are about to get serious.
The whole crew is back: Ben Schwartz as Sonic is a small charmer, James Marsden as the patient Tom, Colleen O'Shaughnessy as Tails is in top form, and Idris Elba as Knuckles is perfect. And this time, Keanu Reeves makes an appearance as Shadow.
The box-office receipts of the first two films (which together grossed about $900 million ...... That's not bad.), everyone is excited to see what will happen next. Unfortunately, the only way to see it now is to go to the cinema. When will we be able to enjoy it at home? Here are some thoughts on that.
“Sonic 3” will be released by Paramount Plus after its theatrical run. Paramount handles the franchise, and both previous “Sonic” films were shown at Paramount.
But if you want to mark your calendar, you might want to use a pencil. Paramount Plus is definitely the streaming destination, but the “when” is a bit vague. At least you can rest assured that if you subscribe to Paramount Plus, you'll be prepared.
So when can we check out Sonic and crew's latest escapade? Based on Paramount's typical release pattern, you may have to wait a while. Since most Paramount films appear on premium video-on-demand platforms like Amazon about a month after their theatrical release, the digital release of Sonic 3 will probably be available for rent or purchase around January 2025.
But here's the problem. Sonic 2” has changed things up a bit. Instead of the usual quick digital release, Paramount held it longer and dropped it on PVOD and Paramount Plus the same day. Since “Sonic 3” is expected to be a big hit, there is a good chance that Paramount will pull the same trick again. That would mean February 2025.
Until then, we'll just have to see Blue Blur and friends on the big screen. But honestly, if you're already a big fan of “Sonic,” that might not be a bad idea.
“Sonic 3,” or its full name, “Sonic the Hedgehog 3,” explores the origins of Shadow the Hedgehog, a powerful new antagonist with abilities beyond anything Sonic and his friends have ever encountered.
Inspired by games such as “Sonic Adventure 2” and “Shadow the Hedgehog,” the third adventure in the “Sonic” animated film series seems packed with more fan service tailored to those who can't get enough of the blue blur in their lives It appears to be.
It brings Sonic, Knuckles, and Tails together as they face their greatest challenge, forced to consider an uneasy alliance with their longtime nemesis, Doctor Robotnik. With the fate of the world at stake, the scrappy little team must work together to confront Shadow's devastating forces. And his gun. Yes, Shadow wields a gun.
The film now features Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic, James Marsden as Tom, Colleen O'Shaughnessy as Tails, Idris Elba returning as Knuckles, and newcomers Krysten Ritter and Jorma Taccone. Oh, and there are two Jim Carrey's running around, so don't let that stop you.
